Forest for Mongolia

Expedition 2024 or as student from FRRMS MENDELU sees it.

7. 8. 2024

For over four weeks, our students have been gathering experience and data in Mongolia. ????????
Lucie is conducting a survey with herders. Her topic, overgrazing of forest and steppe by cattle, is currently the biggest problem of landscape degradation in Mongolia. ???? The aim of the survey is to find out whether herders are aware of the problems associated with overgrazing and under what conditions they would be willing to reduce the amount of cattle they keep. ????
Ella and Nela's questionnaire survey analyses the current development of hiking and Mongolians' preferences for its future direction. ???? They are also mapping attractive places in selected locations and working on the design of a nature trail in Binder. ????
Direct contact with locals brings high added value to research. ???? "As we talk, we gradually uncover more of the daily lives of the locals and the challenges they face. The individual answers then fit together like a whole chapter, and when you add the observations and insights around you, you suddenly start to understand the whole story," the students say. ????
