Forest for Mongolia

Remains of mining activity as a new opportunity to combat desertification

15. 3. 2022

One of the research findings of Expedition Mongolia in a scientific journal.

The article describes the remnants of pegmatite mining in the Goricho and Dzun Bayan localities as a phenomenon of larch spreading on the aridized steppe outside the strictly demarcated habitats of the involved forest stands. In the article, we discuss as a major factor in the distribution of larch on these "dumps" a sufficient supply of water originating from atmospheric moisture.

We will further develop this hypothesis and intend to develop a system of afforestation of arid areas based on the principles of condensation of air humidity on special self-irrigation piles.
