Teaching project

Teaching project

Project name:                 Forestry and Landscape Training Course in Mongolia
Project Number:             DP-2019-062-DO-11420
Promoter:                       Mendel University in Brno
Guarantor/coordinator:   Jan Šebesta, Ph.D.
Contact:                          jan.sebesta@mendelu.cz
Date of implementation: 2019
Support Provider:           Czech Development Agency

The teaching project built on the positive experience of the first year of the Erasmus+ project and the interest of Mongolian universities in exchanging experiences and field trips. The aim of the project was to transfer Czech forestry and environmental know-how to the Mongolian educational environment in order to educate future experts in forest and landscape ecology in Mongolia.

The MENDELU project team's trip to Mongolia took place in the summer of 2019. During the trip, students and academics from the Mongolian University of Life Sciences and the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology attended a series of lectures and field training, during which they were introduced to a range of forestry and environmental issues. In addition, two forestry fences were also built together with the students to protect the natural rejuvenation of the forest and for research purposes, especially soil moisture monitoring. The project also resulted in an extensive manual with teaching texts for the implementation of further field trips to selected sites by the universities themselves.
